What is the cause of normal skin?

Just because normal skin types are easier to work with, don't be fooled into thinking that you can treat your skin however you want! You still need to put in some best practices with taking care of all skin types, even normal skin types. Below we have the top five tips that we believe all skin types and normal skin types should be following.

Tip # 1: Use a sunscreen with an SPF of at least 50 + everyday rain or shine

Everyone must wear sunscreen every single day! Ultraviolet rays are everywhere, and they can cause sun damage, skin cancer and speed up the aging process. Not only is it essential to apply sunscreen every day, but you must also be reapplying sunscreen every 2 hours. There are many ways to reapply sunscreen; the best way to reapply would be to use a sunscreen stick or a sunscreen powder.


Tip #2: Stay hydrated – drink lots of water

I know we've all heard it before, but it is essential to drink lots of water throughout the day. Experts recommend drinking at least 8 cups of water per day. Drinking water is necessary to flush out all the toxins in your body and regulate your body temperature. Drinking water can also help reduce sagging skin, wrinkles, and prevent acne and breakouts.


Tip #3: Double cleanse at night

Make sure to double cleanse your face with an oil cleanser and a water-based cleanser every night. The oil cleanser will remove oil and makeup from your face, and the water-based cleanser will get rid of any excess grime that the oil might have missed. It is crucial to get rid of makeup, dirt, and grime from the day, and doing a double-cleanse will ensure that your face is clean and ready to absorb all the nutrients from your skincare products.


Tip #4: Don't take hot showers or baths 

Use warm water instead of hot water while taking showers or baths. Hot water removes the sebum from your skin, dries out your skin, damages your keratin cells, and aggravates acne. Even though it is tempting to use hot water for showers and baths, it will damage your skin. So, it's always best to use lukewarm water!


Tip #5: Clean your makeup brushes at least once a week

It's best to clean your makeup brushes each time you use them, but we know that it can be a hassle and time-consuming. So, at minimum, you should be washing your makeup brushes at least once a week. Makeup brush hairs are porous and hold onto oil, debris, and bacteria. If you use dirty makeup brushes to apply your makeup, you will be transferring all that debris and bacteria onto your face, increasing the chance of breakouts.
