Everyone needs sun protection, and wearing sunscreen consistently is one of the best things that you can do for your skin health. Sunscreen will protect your skin from burns and skin cancers, and protect your skin from premature aging. Unfortunately, the sun emits harmful UV rays, and we must protect ourselves. There are many different sunscreen formulations available, and we're going to break down each type today.
Lotion
Lotions can have either a slightly runny texture or a lightweight cream texture. Lotions are hydrating but lightweight, making them an excellent option for all skin types.
Cream
Creams have a thicker texture and are more hydrating. Sunscreens with a cream base are best for normal to dry skin types.
Gel
Sunscreen gels are not as common, but they're great for oily & acne-prone skin if you do find them.
Aerosols
There are sunscreen aerosols for your face, but we suggest that you use aerosols for your body! It's a quick and easy way to apply sunscreen but make sure that you're rubbing the sunscreen after spraying. If you only spray the sunscreen and do not pat it in, you might not get full sunscreen protection.
Powder
Powder sunscreen is excellent for those who wear makeup and want to touch up on their SPF throughout the day. This formulation of sunscreen is perfect for all skin types. However, it is essential to note that you need to use a lot of powder to get protection.
Oils
Sunscreen oils work great as body and makeup highlight! It can also be a great way to add a little glow to your body for that sun-kissed look.
Sun stick/balm
Sun sticks and balms are a great way to reapply your sunscreen. It's one of the best ways that you can easily reapply sunscreen. It works so well because it's compact, you can reapply over makeup, and it won't smudge! It's excellent for dry skin types, and it's usually suitable for combination and oily skin types as well, but it depends on your specific skin type.
