I made many skincare mistakes when I was younger; here are some skincare mistakes that I have learned from. Avoid making these same mistakes, and take care of your skin! Our skin is the largest organ in our body, and we only have one skin, so it's best to take care of it and introduce good skincare habits.
Wearing makeup when you work out
You sweat and build up dirt and oil on your skin when you work out. It will mix in with the sweat, dirt, and oil and clog your pores if you're wearing makeup. When your pores are clogged, it can lead to many skin problems. Some of the issues include acne, redness, dry skin, and oily skin. Instead of wearing makeup before you work out, it's best to cleanse your face, apply your skincare products, and follow up with a good sunscreen!
Bad sleeping habits
Before you go to bed, bad habits can take a toll on your skin. Some of the worst practices are not washing your face before bed and not getting enough sleep. If you don't cleanse all the dirt, grime, and makeup from your face before bed, it can lead to acne breakouts and premature aging. Another thing people don't realize that could lead to dull and tired-looking skin is not getting enough sleep. We need eight hours of sleep; when we sleep, that's how our skin repairs itself. And without good sleep, it will break down our skin barrier and lead to dry, dehydrated skin.
Washing acne-prone skin too often
It can be tempting to wash your face more than twice a day when you have acne-prone skin. But doing this can be worse for your skin. If you strip your skin's natural oils away, then your skin will start over-producing oil, which can lead to oilier skin and potential breakouts. It's best to wash your skin with a gentle cleanser twice a day and no more than that.
